With a decade and a half of experience, Dr. Patil has established a successful career in education. Since 2022, he has served as a full professor of dentistry at Roseman University of Health Sciences. His prior roles include associate professor at the College of Dentistry, Jazan University, Saudi Arabia, from 2016 to 2022, associate professor at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, India, from 2012 to 2015, and senior lecturer at KLE Society’s Institute of Dental Sciences, India, from 2009 to 2012. He laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in dental surgery from PM Nadagouda Memorial Dental College and Hospital in 2003, a Master of Science in dental surgery and oral and maxillofacial pathology from Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital, India, in 2009, and a PhD in medical biotechnology from the University of Siena, Italy, in 2019. He has also completed training in biomedical research and clinical trials through the CITI Program.
Reflecting on his path, Dr. Patil collaborated on an NIH grant for the use of photodynamic therapy on oral cancer and is a contributor to “Translational Research in Oral Oncology” by Sage Publications. Additionally, his work has garnered over 15,000 citations on Google Scholar. He also actively participates in organizations such as the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, the Indian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists, the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research, and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. He also dedicates his time as a volunteer for oral hygiene education and community outreach programs and supports an orphanage in India through sponsorship and fundraising. He takes great pride in ranking among the top 2% of scientists across all disciplines, and finds fulfillment in teaching and mentoring, guiding students toward successful dental residencies. Looking to the future, he is focused on integrating artificial intelligence and augmented and virtual reality into dental education to revolutionize teaching methodologies. Additionally, he aspires to leadership roles such as dean of research and innovation and vice president of research, aiming to contribute further to his institution and field.
