Kimberly A. Harvey, EdD, associate provost for student experience and dean of students at Nazareth University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academia.

With nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Harvey has built a successful career in higher education, specializing in student development, crisis management, student support services, and leadership development. He has served as the associate provost for student experience and dean of students at Nazareth University since 2024, where he has also been an adjunct faculty member since 2019. His responsibilities include policy review and implementation, meeting with student groups advocating for change or resources, and supporting faculty and colleagues in working with students. He manages a portfolio of academic support services, student rights functions, and programmatic efforts, such as new student orientation and Senior Week, and leads a team that works with approximately 2,500 students. His experience also includes serving as associate vice president for student and campus life and dean of students at Nazareth University from 2021 to 2024, assistant vice president for student experience at Nazareth University from 2019 to 2021, adjunct professor at Canisius College in 2020, director of admissions at the State University of New York Geneseo from 2016 to 2019, and interim vice president for enrollment management in 2019.

Additionally, Dr. Harvey served as adjunct faculty at Buffalo State College in 2019, executive director of retention and student success at Gannon University from 2015 to 2016, and director of the new student program at the State University of New York Geneseo from 2011 to 2015. Earlier in his career, he held roles as assistant director of residence life from 2008 to 2011 and area coordinator from 2006 to 2008 at the same institution. She has also dedicated her time as co-chair and chair of the Student Personnel Association of New York State from 2008 to 2010, and has been involved with the National Association for Student Professional Administration at both national and regional levels. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was honored with the Tyll Van Geel Educational Leadership Award from the University of Rochester. Reflecting on her path, she earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a minor in educational studies from the State University of New York Fredonia in 2004, a Master of Science in student personnel administration at Canisius University in 2006, and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and administration at the University of Rochester in 2016. 

Dr. Harvey attributes her success to the valuable mentorship and role modeling she has received throughout her career and emphasizes the importance of continuing this mentorship approach in her current role as she leads and supports her team members and students. Currently, she is venturing into fundraising, engaging with potential donors to secure funds for expanding facilities and programs, which is a significant goal as she steps into this expanded role. Additionally, she has begun exploring grant writing with colleagues to access funding opportunities from corporations and nonprofit organizations. In the coming years, she aims to enhance her ability to advocate for and implement strategies that cater to the needs of today’s learners, understanding the importance of continuously refreshing her approach. She is also committed to further developing her leadership skills and aspires to attain a vice president role in student success or student affairs in the coming years.
