Andrea Gonzalez Kirwin, adjunct professor at Temple University College of Education and Human Development and chief academic officer and superintendent of schools at ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.

With three decades of experience in academia, Ms. Kirwin has established a successful career, currently excelling as an adjunct professor at Temple University’s College of Education and Human Development since 2019, and as chief academic officer and superintendent of schools at ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania since 2015. In her current roles, she manages the daily operations of several schools, overseeing four separate boards, three dedicated to schools and one to a nonprofit. She collaborates with a team to ensure smooth daily operations, from sharing school board information and coordinating building openings to maintaining compliance with state, city, and district regulations. Her duties also involve reporting to various stakeholders to ensure all responsibilities are met efficiently and within budget. She also works closely with ASPIRA’s chief executive officer to support the organization’s mission and objectives.

Ms. Kirwin’s previous roles include assistant superintendent in the Camden City School District from 2007 to 2015, turnaround specialist principal and school principal for the School District of Philadelphia between 2003 and 2007, and director of the Office of Bilingual/ESL Programs from 2001 to 2003. She began her career as a bilingual/ESL teacher in the School District of Philadelphia, later serving as a bilingual facilitator and support service assistant, gaining extensive experience in bilingual education and school leadership. In addition to her professional roles, she is involved with the Pennsylvania Association of Hispanic School Administrators, the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents, the International Literacy Association, and the American Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. She also volunteers her time through local charities, her church, and children’s programs, including supporting coaches working with special needs students in jiu-jitsu.

Ms. Kirwin laid a strong educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in educational psychology from Temple University in 1995, a Master of Education from Cheyney University, and further credentials in school administration from Arcadia University in 2006. She holds licenses as a New Jersey school administrator, Pennsylvania superintendent, principal, and early childhood/elementary teacher. Throughout her path, she was inspired by strong mentors, which motivated her to advance educational access for underserved Latino communities. Looking to the future, she is working on a proposal for a dual-language and trade high school, providing students the option to pursue college or enter a trade post-graduation. She envisions expanding ASPIRA beyond Philadelphia to establish schools in Puerto Rico and other areas with high Latino populations, aiming to bridge educational gaps.
