Dr. Theresa M. Howard, Professor at Kennesaw State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.

Dr. Howard began her education in dance theater education, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater education and a Master of Science in dance movement therapy from Hunter College in New York City. She subsequently studied instructional leadership, graduating from Argosy University in Atlanta, Georgia with a doctorate in education. She worked as a therapist, manager, director of programming and human services specialist for 40 years.

Previously, Dr. Howard was the manager and artistic director for H.J.C. Bowden Senior Dance Ensemble and an instructor at College Park Recreation Center and Emma Darnell Aviation Museum and Conference Center. She taught students as a professor of dance at Emory University and since 2005, she has been a professor of dance at Kennesaw State University, both in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Howard attributes her success to her passion for both mental health and for dance. She found dance while attending college and learning about how it could be used as a therapeutic tool. This led her to her second career in dance, something she pursued more widely after retiring. In the next few years, she plans to teach dance overseas and all around the world. She teaches several different dance styles, including classical ballet, jazz and modern dance. She actively works in community productions, choreographic dances and movements for the stage.
