With over three decades of experience, Dr. Rotenberg has demonstrated excellence as a professor at Queens College since 1990. Alongside her teaching duties, she has held notable administrative roles, including chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry from 2015 to 2017, and interim dean of the Division of Math and Natural Sciences from 2017 to 2019. Dr. Rotenberg’s academic journey began at Connecticut College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology in 1975. She continued her studies at Hahnemann Medical College, attaining a Master of Science in biological chemistry in 1980, before completing her PhD in chemistry at Brown University in 1985. Additionally, she maintains affiliations with esteemed organizations such as the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Society for Cell Biology.
Dr. Rotenberg’s contributions to her field have earned her several accolades. She has received grants from esteemed foundations such as the Gustavus and Louise Pfeiffer Research Foundation, the Elsa University Pardee Cancer Research Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. Additionally, she holds patents for dequalinium analogues in sunscreens. Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Rotenberg has actively contributed to scientific literature through numerous research papers.
