Maurice D. Evans, chief executive officer at Elite Management Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in early education.

With over two decades of experience, Mr. Evans has built a successful career in early education. He currently serves as the chief executive officer of Elite Management Group, a role he has held since 2012. Under his leadership, Elite School Management has become the largest preschool through eighth-grade institution in Wayne County, Michigan, representing over 1,500 children and 1,100 families. A notable achievement is the construction of the Maurice Denard Evans Field House, named in his honor, which includes an e-sports room and a state-of-the-art computer lab featuring drones and coding. In his role, he oversees all six companies under the organization, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. He manages a team of seven executives who report directly to him, each responsible for different areas of the organization. Mr. Evans is actively involved in guiding and mentoring his team, providing hands-on counsel and direction. Additionally, he spends time in the training institute to ensure the curriculum is rigorous enough to equip paraprofessionals and non-certified teachers with effective classroom management skills.

Mr. Evans’ extensive experience includes working with Philip Morris, J. Lewis Cooper Co., and the Detroit Police Department for two years. He is actively involved in the Lomas Brown Jr. Foundation, Young Men of Distinction, Young Ladies of Diamonds, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He also served as a founding board member and former board president of the Detroit Service Learning Academy, chairman of the board of directors for the Young Men’s Christian Association, and a member of the Detroit Athletic Club. Additionally, he dedicated his time to the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Church in Indianapolis, where he helped build a church. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has been honored with Entrepreneur of the Year by the Michigan Diversity Council, the Black United Fund Award, the Mary Mahoney Award, and Youth Basketball Coach of the Year for two consecutive years, along with several humanitarian awards.

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Evans laid a strong educational foundation, earning an associate degree from the Harvard School of Business in 2023, along with a certification in business management from Harvard Business Analytics. He takes great pride in continuously seeking better ways to serve his community, ensuring that everyone has a fair opportunity to succeed. He attributes his success to his drive to become the best person possible, inspired by his late father-in-law, who was his hero and mentor. In the coming years, he remains dedicated to staying involved in teaching and guiding others to carry his vision forward. His ultimate goal is to open a school in Kenya, where he hopes to ensure that everyone touched by education, whether child or parent, understands their inherent greatness. In his personal time, he enjoys collecting cars, driving, and spending time with his grandson.
