Jesse M. Dr. Redlo has established a distinguished career in academia, marked by his dedication to the hospitality sector. Currently serving as an adjunct professor at State University of New York (SUNY), Brockport, a position he has held since 2021, he has been instrumental in his teachings. Additionally, since 2023, he has served as the program manager for the Executive MBA program at the Saunders College of Business, Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, New York. Dr. Redlo’s teaching philosophy emphasizes delivering content in a manner that students can readily understand and apply to their lives and careers. He also incorporates service-learning opportunities into the curriculum and collaborates with for-profit companies, including assisting a startup in Rochester, New York.

A career in academia that began in 2014, Dr. Redlo was a teaching assistant for hospitality and tourism management at Rochester Institute of Technology. He later became an adjunct instructor and interim peer advisor coordinator at the institute’s Academic Support Center in 2016. At Monroe Community College, Dr. Redlo served as a professional tutor, interim purchasing coordinator and adjunct instructor between 2013 and 2020. During that tenure, he also taught as an instructor of hospitality management at Onondaga Community College in 2017. He later held various academic roles at American College of Education, Saint John Fisher College and Nazareth College until 2023.

Before his commitment to higher education, Dr. Redlo worked in the restaurant and hospitality sector. His passion for cooking and baking initially led him toward a culinary career. However, he found his true calling within hospitality management under the guidance of mentors who recognized his potential beyond the kitchen. This shift enabled Dr. Redlo to focus on management and business aspects within the hospitality industry, where he continues to excel.

Dr. Redlo’s academic journey began with an Associate of Science in liberal arts and sciences from Monroe Community College in 2013. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in hospitality and service management, summa cum laude, from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2015. Continuing his education at the same institution, he earned a Master of Science in hospitality and tourism management in 2016. Subsequently, Dr. Redlo completed a Doctor of Education in leadership with a concentration in instructional leadership, with honors, from the American College of Education in 2020. These academic achievements have been instrumental in shaping his expertise in educational access, administration, leadership, and marketing.

Beyond his formal education, Dr. Redlo’s professional accomplishments have been complemented by numerous certifications, including the Social and Behavioral Research Basic Course from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program and Learning Python from LinkedIn. He also holds certifications from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and Apple Inc., among others.

Throughout his career, Dr. Redlo’s commitment to impactful education has been further demonstrated through projects such as the Project for Comprehensive Purchasing Management Review and the Project for Students’ Perceived Barriers to Success in Online Learning. He also served as a keynote speaker at Monroe Community College’s Model UN Reception in 2018. Today, Dr. Redlo remains as an editorial board member for the Journal of Business Leadership and Management since 2024.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Redlo is deeply involved in civic activities. Since 2019, he has chaired the Henrietta Youth Board, where he designs and implements free and low-cost programs to support underprivileged families, impacting hundreds of individuals annually with a modest budget of $25,000. Dr. Redlo’s civic contributions extend to serving as a judge at Monroe Community College since 2017 and previously as a member of the Town of Henrietta’s zoning board of appeals from 2020 to 2021.

Throughout his career, Dr. Redlo has been recognized for his excellence in teaching, having received the SUNY Effective Practices Award for online instruction at Monroe Community College and Rochester Institute of Technology’s highest teaching honor, based on student evaluations. Looking ahead, Dr. Redlo remains committed to fostering experiential learning that equips students with critical thinking skills essential for real-world applications.
