In this position, he oversees the management and functionality of the college’s LMS, Blackboard Learn, a comprehensive platform that supports teaching and learning by offering tools for course management, content delivery, student interaction, and instructional support. His prior experience includes serving as a network specialist at El Paso Community College from 1990 to 2005. Additionally, he is an active member of the El Paso Community College Professional Staff Association and has been a trainer and technical coordinator for the college’s nursing department since 2008. He laid a solid educational foundation, earning an Associate of Applied Sciences in accounting from El Paso Community College in 1985, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Park University in 1992, and a master’s degree in information technology from Colorado Technical University in 2008.

Reflecting on his path, since transitioning from IT to the distance education department in 2005, Mr. Lawrence has embraced the role of sole LMS administrator, ensuring seamless support and operations across the college. His responsibilities extend beyond standard course maintenance, offering administrative assistance to faculty, students, the Dean, and various college organizations while setting up LMS spaces for clubs, academies, and departments. Additionally, he collaborates with El Paso’s high schools’ network personnel to maintain software compatibility, and provides essential support for video conferencing and test monitoring throughout the county. Throughout his career, he takes great pride in maintaining an astounding 99.99% of server uptime, resulting in minimal disruptions for students and faculty members. He attributes his success to his commitment to his work his wife for supporting him in his endeavors and providing encouragement to pursue his goals. In the coming years, he explains he is thoughtfully planning for retirement, envisioning a future filled with relaxation and cherished moments with loved ones.
