Title: Clinical Educator
Company: Novo Nordisk
Location: Dallas, Texas, United States
Stephen G. Foster, DMSc, clinical educator at Novo Nordisk, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academia and health care.
With two decades of experience, Mr. Foster has built a successful career in academia and health care, specializing in the cardiometabolic space. He currently serves as a clinical educator of diabetes at Novo Nordisk, a position he has held since 2023. In this role, he advises health care providers on treatments, particularly GLP-1 medications, ensuring they prescribe the appropriate options for patients with type 2 diabetes rather than those solely seeking weight loss. He regularly meets with health care providers, offers educational materials to office staff, and visits low-income clinics, healthcare facilities, and food banks to distribute vital information, ensuring vulnerable populations have access to essential resources. His experience includes working as an orthopaedic physician assistant at Baylor Scott & White Health in the Dallas-Fort Worth area from 2016 to 2022, an ambulatory care physician assistant with Garland Independent School District from 2014 to 2016, and an emergency medicine physician assistant with ApolloMD in Atlanta from 2012 to 2014. He also served as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 2004 to 2012 and as a firefighter and EMT with the City of Hapeville in Atlanta from 1999 to 2010.
Mr. Foster is a member of the board of directors for the Commerce-Greenville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity Inc. since 2023 and serves as chairman of the Health and Wellness Committee for the chapter. He is also a former member of the board of directors for The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences from Dillard University in 1998, a master’s degree in health science and physician assistant studies from Duke University School of Medicine in 2012, and a Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg in 2023. He is also a certified physician assistant.
Reflecting on his path, Dr. Foster’s early exposure to challenging situations sparked his passion for medicine and emergency preparedness. After college, he became a firefighter paramedic, which eventually led him to attend physician assistant school. In the coming years, he is determined to grow and advance within his company and the healthcare industry. He aims to become a leader in the field, advocating for vulnerable populations and improving their access to care. Additionally, he hopes to influence diversity in clinical trials and serve as a leader in the community. He is preparing for a specialized medical consultant role, which aligns with his long-term career goals. Although he is currently focused on his education, his ultimate objective is to transition into a formal consulting position, with aspirations to secure this role within Novo Nordisk.
