Moyenda Iyapo Ambakisye, pastor at St. Simon Missionary Baptist Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious ministries.

With nearly two decades of experience to his credit, Rev. Ambakisye has established a distinguished career in Christian ministries, specializing in the gospel of Jesus and pastoral care. He has served as a pastor at St. Simon Missionary Baptist Church since 2021, where he teaches biblical revelation, engages in pastoral care ministries, and provides leadership in all areas of church life. Over his 21 years in the Navy, he was a quartermaster responsible for navigating the ship. Additionally, he cares for his ailing wife and teaches Bible study. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned an Associate of Science in electronics and engineering and was ordained as a minister in 2005. Reflecting on his path, his journey in the church began as a custodian, but his musical talents quickly caught the attention of the members. He stepped in as a musician and expressed a desire for deeper involvement. Over the years, his dedication to music and church maintenance led to his ordination as a deacon in 2005. He took on various roles, including minister of music, youth minister, and assistant treasurer, and his commitment and leadership culminated in his licensure to preach in 2005 and his official ordination as a reverend in 2009, while also serving as the pastor’s assistant.

Rev. Ambakisye attributes his success to his willingness to learn from trial and error, his valuable military experience, divine grace, and an insatiable hunger for knowledge. He acknowledges that God’s grace has been fundamental to his journey, while his deep desire for knowledge has been a significant driving force. From a young age, his passion for reading and absorbing information has fueled his approach to preaching and teaching, driving his commitment to thorough research and understanding of his topics. In the coming years, he envisions establishing a dedicated educational institution within his ministry focused on spiritual education rather than formal degrees, aiming to equip individuals with skills for effective teaching, ministry, and counseling. He believes that spiritually educated individuals can make a well-rounded impact on all aspects of life. Advising aspiring professionals, he stresses the importance of not taking information at face value, as titles and positions do not always equate to expertise.
