Willette Veresta Jones, EdD, professor, virtual university supervisor, and postdoctoral fellowship coach at Walden University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academia.

With nearly four decades of experience, Dr. Jones has established a successful career in academia, specializing in educational leadership. Since 2024, she has excelled as a postdoctoral fellowship coach at the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership with Walden University. Additionally, she has served as a virtual university supervisor at the same institution since 2023 and as a contributing faculty member of the EdS and MSEd English Language Arts Principal and Licensure Program since 2021. Her responsibilities include teaching students online, participating in course design, providing office hours, assessing and evaluating student work, fostering a positive cultural climate, performing peer reviews, and conducting research. Her prior experience includes roles as contributing faculty at Walden University from 2019 to 2021, administrator for principal support with The School District of Philadelphia from 2012 to 2016, adjunct professor at Cabrini University from 2007 to 2010, principal at Filter Academics Plus Elementary School from 2000 to 2012, and teacher and head of the science and special education department at The School District of Philadelphia from 1987 to 2000.

Dr. Jones has made significant contributions to educational leadership, including co-authoring “Ethical Educational Leadership in Turbulent Times,” published by Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group in 2013, and serving as a reader and scorer for Educational Testing Service from 2005 to 2009. She is actively involved in civic roles, serving as a member of the Principal Curriculum Committee at Walden University since 2023 and previously on the board of directors for Porter’s Day Care & Educational Center from 2013 to 2016 and the New DEEL Community Network at Temple University from 2011 to 2016. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, and Phi Delta Kappa. In light of her impressive undertakings, she was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society in 2018, received the Rose Lindenbaum Improvement of Education Award in 2006, and the First-in-Math Principal of the Year Award in 2005. Laying an educational foundation, she earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Temple University in 1977, a Master of Education in special education from Antioch University in 1989, a Doctor of Education in administrative leadership for teaching and learning from Walden University in 2018, and a postdoctoral fellowship from Walden University in 2021.

Dr. Jones attributes her success to her deep respect and enthusiasm for teaching and learning, believing that kindness is essential for fostering a strong, goal-oriented team. She is highly dedicated to professional development and building cohesive teams. In the coming years, she aims to expand her travel experiences, become more involved in her grandchildren’s education, make significant contributions to Walden University’s learners, and continue her commitment to lifelong learning. She takes joy in achieving her lifelong goals and aspires to dedicate her next chapter to serving and supporting others in their pursuit of success, including helping her family and children reach their own aspirations.
