Since 2014, Mr. Guidry has served as a test coordinator, overseeing the administration of placement tests for students transferring from parochial or private schools or from homeschooling to the public school system, ensuring their alignment with the public educational curriculum.

Mr. Guidry’s professional journey includes serving as the General Educational Developmental test administrator for the Lafayette Parish School System and the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center from 1986 to 2013. His teaching career commenced in 1966, focusing on junior high school mathematics and science before transitioning into guidance counseling.

Throughout his career, Mr. Guidry has been actively engaged in various capacities, notably as the chair of the Lafayette Parish High School Career Day for several years and as a testing supervisor for the American College Testing and Scholastic Aptitude Test. He also held the role of selective service registrar for Acadiana High School from 1990 to 1999.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Guidry has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic duty, serving as an honorary recruiter for the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy from 1981 to 1999. He obtained his diploma from Gueydan High School in Louisiana in 1962 and pursued higher education locally, earning his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in administration, supervision, and guidance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, formerly the University of Southwestern Louisiana, in 1966 and 1972, respectively.

A longstanding member of the Lafayette Parish School Counselors Association, Mr. Guidry has remained dedicated to his professional community for over 35 years. He has been honored with fellowships from Mississippi College and the University of South Carolina and General Electric Corporation, focusing on psychology and related topics, which have further enriched his professional expertise.

Mr. Guidry attributes his success to his unwavering passion for education and his steadfast dedication to student success. He continues to be committed to his work, ensuring the success of students in the Lafayette Parish School System.
