Gerard L. Knieter, Ed.D., Professor Emeritus of Music at California State University, Northridge, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.

Dr. Knieter is a professor emeritus of music at California State University in Northridge, California, a position he has held since 2006. Previously, he was a professor of music at the university from 1989 to 2005. He also worked as an executive assistant for the vice president for administration and served as the dean for California State University, Northridge. His career began in 1956 as a teacher at Island Trees High School in Levittown, New York. He advanced from the public school system to San Jose State University in California, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and several other institutions of higher learning.

Dr. Knieter earned a bachelor’s in music education from New York University in 1953, subsequently securing a master’s in music education with an emphasis in higher education from the same in 1954. He graduated with a doctorate in music education with an emphasis in psychology and teacher education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City in 1961. He shares his knowledge of music and music educating in his published works, which includes articles, papers for academic journals, documentary reports and full-length novels that he authored and co-authored.

Dr. Knieter has previously been featured in Who’s Who in Entertainment and Who’s Who in American Education. He attributes his success to the teachers he had as a student, mentors who inspired and motivated him, as he now does for his students.
