Aaron Theall, Director of Bands at DeRidder High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in musical group administration.
Following obtaining a Bachelor of Music Education in instrumental K-12 Music Education from Louisiana State University in in Baton Rouge, Mr. Theall has provided superior service as band director of DeRidder High School. In this capacity he is in charge of directing all musical groups as well as administrative tasks such as itinerary, scheduling and transportation.
In addition, as executive director of the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, his duties include setting the budget and getting it approved; making sure band practices and policies are approved by parent company Drum Corps International (DCI); and making sure his musical groups have the necessary insurance and coverages.
Mr. Theall served with distinction as vice president of the District V Band and Orchestra Directors Association from 2015 to 2019, and he has garnered awards such as Outstanding Young Music Teacher Award from the Louisiana Music Educators Association in 2013 as well as plaques of appreciation. His professional memberships include the Louisiana Bandmasters Association, Louisiana Music Educators Association, Louisiana Jazz Educators Association; National Association for Music Education (NAfME); Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society.
Mr. Theall considers himself fortunate with DeRidder High School to have come into a program that had two other teachers who each had thirty years’ experience. He attributes a large part of his success to his mentors he had in the profession, as well as his drive to continue for success. He considers his most notable achievement to have been directing the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps to fourth place in Drum Corps International (DCI) Open Class Finals, a strong showing considering that the band had been founded only five years previously in 2014. In the coming years, Mr. Theall intends to become a National Board Certified teacher.
