With years of experience to his credit, Mr. Mirza has excelled as a high school orchestra teacher with the Ossining Union Free School District since 2019. Prior to this position, he was active as a sales associate cashier with Burlington Coat Factory from 2015 to 2016, a sales associate for Lord & Taylor from 2016 to 2017, a work-study student at Syracuse University’s School of Music Operations Office from 2016 to 2017, a private music teacher from 2016 to 2017 and a string area graduate assistant with George State University from 2017 to 2019. Likewise, he performed as a cellist with the Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church between 2017 and 2019. Beyond his primary professional endeavors, Mr. Mirza has been affiliated with the National Association for Music Education, the New York State School Music Association and the Westchester County School Music Association, for which he was appointed as an all-county orchestra coordinator, an executive board member and chairperson.
Fostering a passion for performing the cello during his youth, Mr. Mirza pursued an education at Syracuse University, earning a Bachelor of Music in music education in 2017. During this time, he was honored with recognition on the Dean’s List with a 4.01-grade point average. He subsequently concluded his academic efforts at Georgia State University, from which he graduated with a Master of Music in orchestral performance in 2019. Attributing his success to the influence of his parents and teachers throughout the years, Mr. Mirza’s is exceptionally proud to conduct the student pita orchestra for the Ossining Union Free School District’s spring musical during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and hopes to obtain his doctorate in music education in the coming years.
