Jason Wilson, Chair, Mathematics and Computer Science at Biola University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mathematics and statistics instruction.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical studies and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 1996 from Biola University, Dr. Wilson earned a Master of Arts in New Testament studies from the aforementioned university in 1999. He continued his education with a Master of Arts in applied mathematics from California State University at Fullerton in 2002 and a Doctor of Philosophy in applied statistics from the University of California, Riverside in 2008.
Since 2008, Dr. Wilson has provided superior service with Biola University, excelling as an associate professor, the chair of the mathematics and computer science department since 2018 and director of the quantitative consulting center (QCC) since 2019. Biola’s QCC provides statistical consulting to on- and off-campus clients, bringing projects into the classroom for hands-on education.
Dr. Wilson’s professional memberships include the American Statistical Association, Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences, and International Christian Statisticians, for which he is a past chair. He has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Marquis Who’s who in America and the 2007 edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
Attributing his success to his strong faith, Dr. Wilson considers most notable achievement to be founding the Quantitative Consulting Center at Biola University, of which he is currently the director, which gives his students tremendous experience at an undergraduate level because they gain experience with live statistical consulting. In the coming years, Dr. Wilson’s goal is to take a step towards a higher level of personal impact on his students, which may mean more meetings with his students in smaller groups during the week outside of regular classes.
