Robert Michael Meyer, Chancellor Emeritus at University of Wisconsin-Stout, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.

With 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Meyer has held the designation of chancellor emeritus with the University of Wisconsin-Stout since 2019. Prior to this appointment, he excelled in a number of positions at the aforementioned university between 1994 and 2019, including as chancellor, a faculty member, an assistant chancellor for state and federal relations, the dean of the College of Technology, Engineering, and Management, the director of the Stout Technology Transfer Institute and the program director for manufacturing engineering. During this time, Mr. Meyer was additionally active as the president of Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College from 2008 to 2014 and a member of the board of directors for the Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership from 1998 to 2008.

The former co-owner of B&B Landscape and Outdoor Construction Services between 1981 and 1984, Mr. Meyer previously served as a technology education instructor for the River Falls School District and an adult woodworking instructor for the District One Technical Institute at the Chippewa Valley Technical College from 1980 to 1981. He further worked as a summer foreman for the Zehren Landscape Company from 1978 to 1980 and summer operator’s relief for the Wisconsin Electric Power Company from 1976 to 1977. Mr. Meyer began his career as a general machinist for Badger Dynamics in Port Washington, Wisconsin from 1973 to 1974 and Johnson Brass and Foundry in Saukville, Wisconsin from 1974 to 1975.

To support his professional endeavors, Mr. Meyer pursued an education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, from which he initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in industrial education in 1980. He continued his academic efforts with a Master of Science in management technology at the same university in 1983. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Meyer concluded his studies at the University of Minnesota in 1995, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering.

Affiliated with various boards and committees in his areas of expertise, Mr. Meyer has been honored on several occasions throughout his career, including with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the 1989 Prime Mover Award from University of Wisconsin-Stout, the 1992 Outstanding Teacher Award from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, the 2006 Nelva G. Runnalls Research Support Recognition Award and the 2013 President’s Award from the Wisconsin Association for Career and Technical Education. He was likewise recognized as the Educator of the Year by Momentum Chippewa Valley in 2000, the Educator of the Year by the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2000 and the Pacesetter of the Year by District 3 of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations in 2013. Attributing his success to his proficiency in developing strategic plans and visions for organizations as well as his leadership abilities, Mr. Meyer hopes to travel around the United States alongside his wife while enjoying his retirement to the fullest and helping to mentor the next generation of leaders.
