Dr. Alderfer has been at the helm of her organization, serving as the founder of Amadellics since 2025. As such, she coaches individuals privately on mindful microdosing practices and creates podcast content focused on mindful microdosing, seniors, dementia and caregivers. She also writes educational and thought leadership content on mindful microdosing and presents on podcasts and public platforms about related topics. Through collaborations with caregivers and senior communities, Dr. Alderfer promotes awareness of mindful microdosing as a tool for well-being. Her expertise in this emerging field is distinguished by her relatable teaching style and secular approach, making her guidance accessible to a broad audience seeking practical support.
Before establishing Amadellics, Dr. Alderfer began working as a mindful microdosing educator in 2012. Her journey into this area was a natural extension of decades spent practicing and teaching mindfulness. When she first encountered microdosing several years ago, Dr. Alderfer’s curiosity led her to seek formal training. The experience proved transformative and reinforced her belief that microdosing, when approached with integrity, reverence and discernment, can align with the foundational principles of mindfulness. Dr. Alderfer integrates these principles into her coaching practice today.
From 1997 to 2015, Dr. Alderfer contributed as a writer, mindfulness teacher and professor at Marlboro College Graduate & Professional Studies in Vermont. In this role, she developed curricula that integrated self-reflection and global perspectives into graduate education. Concurrently between 1985 and 2010, Dr. Alderfer served as an adjunct professor at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont, where she taught courses in education and intercultural understanding.
Dr. Alderfer’s tenure at the American Embassy School in New Delhi spanned more than a decade, beginning in 1997. As an English as a Second Language coordinator from 1997 to 2007 and English language learning director between 1997 and 2008, she led programs supporting language acquisition for diverse student populations.
Instrumental in shaping her professional path, Dr. Alderfer’s bachelor’s degree was supported by a Master of Arts in teaching with concentrations in English as a Second Language, Spanish as a Second Language and bilingual bicultural education from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont. She also earned a Doctor of Philosophy in global educational leadership from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2003. Dr. Alderfer’s commitment to ongoing learning is reflected in her certifications as well. She is a certified mindful microdosing coach through the Microdosing Institute in the Netherlands and holds certification as an end-of-life doula, which she pursued after participating in foundational training with Roshi Joan Halifax during her time living in India and later through coursework at the University of Vermont and the Living/Dying Project. Additionally, Dr. Alderfer is a certified yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Dr. Alderfer’s publications reflect both depth of experience and innovation within her field. Her most notable achievement is “Mindful Microdosing: A Guidebook and Journal,” published by Green Writers Press in 2024. This work required significant courage to enter new territory while highlighting vulnerability and encouraging readers to trust their instincts. The book is available on Amazon and stands as an invitation for others to explore their own journeys toward self-discovery.
Among her earlier works, Dr. Alderfer released “Tibetan Proverbs: Children’s Voices from the Homeland” via Paljor Publications in 2005, “Teaching as a Spiritual Practice” via Full Circle Publishing Ltd. in 2008, “Optimizing Learning” via the European Council of International Schools in 2010 and, among others, “The Dharma King” via Paljor Publications in 2019. Additionally, as the host of the podcast “Microdosing & More” on Spotify, she continues to share insights with listeners worldwide.
In addition to writing books that have become resources within healthcare and mental health settings, including one of the first children’s books on mindfulness, Dr. Alderfer has presented at conferences, such as the Psilocybin Conference in San Francisco, California, where she explored therapeutic potential for dementia care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Alderfer has distinguished herself through her approachable presence and commitment to making mindfulness attainable for all individuals. She avoids mystical or esoteric elements that could alienate those seeking practical guidance. Instead, she focuses on the everyday applicability of mindfulness practices rooted in various traditions but presented in a secular manner.
In light of her achievements, Dr. Alderfer received the INDIE Award for Best Book in Education in 2015 for “Teaching from the Heart of Mindfulness” and a Volunteer Award from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Ecuador, recognizing her efforts to start a library and lead community service initiatives.
The foundation of Dr. Alderfer’s success lies in her willingness to listen to her own instincts while drawing upon fortitude and determination throughout every challenge faced along her journey. She attributes her achievements to maintaining gratitude even during difficult times, a philosophy that continues to guide her work today. Looking ahead, Dr. Alderfer remains guided by principles that encourage continual refinement of the heart, a sentiment inspired by wisdom traditions she has embraced throughout life’s journey.
