Focusing on leadership development, he provides coaching services to principals and instructional leaders that result in sustainable opportunities, transform school culture and climate, boost student outcomes and increase teacher performance. Leveraging a distinguished tenure as a retired high school principal of over 20 years for the Chicago Public Schools after five years in the classroom, Mr. Maclin has profoundly impacted teachers and administrators and their ability to create effective change.
During his tenure, Mr. Maclin successfully secured over $100 million in funding through governmental and external partnerships. His expertise in transforming struggling communities by fostering sustainable opportunities and driving impactful change has been one of his most notable accomplishments. Among other achievements, Mr. Maclin was credited with revitalizing two failing schools in impoverished neighborhoods, significantly improving student attendance, performance and behavior. Attributing his education to much of his success, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in communication disorders sciences and services from Northwestern University in 1996, a Master of Education in special education and teaching from Dominican University in 1998, a Master of Business Administration in secondary school administration from Loyola University Chicago in 2001, an All But Dissertation, Doctor of Philosophy from Concordia University Chicago in 2005, and a Doctor of Education from the American College of Education.
Mr. Maclin has been engaged with professional organizations like the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association and the Administrator Association for Illinois International. These affiliations have helped him remain at the forefront of his industry. Passionate about assisting schools in adopting best practices, keeping students engaged and reducing dropout rates, particularly for minoritized students, Mr. Maclin intends to continue making a difference through his work in the coming years. In light of his success, he was recognized with several Principal of the Year Awards, a Kathy Osterman Award and a Game Changer of the Year Award. He credits his career path to the strong support of his parents, who always encouraged him to attend school and value education.
