Daniela Wagner-Loera, PhD, adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus and senior dissertation chair at Grand Canyon University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.

Dr. Wagner-Loera, a leader in higher education for over 20 years, has been teaching as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus since 2017 after initially serving as a lecturer on campus from 2008 to 2016. Additionally, she has been serving as a senior dissertation chair at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in a remote capacity since 2019. Having taught various courses in psychology, English, writing, and English as a second language throughout her tenure, Dr. Wagner-Loera is recognized for her expertise as a teacher and mentor.

Focusing on faculty development and training at the University of Maryland Global Campus, Dr. Wagner-Loera has been instrumental in training new and existing staff members while teaching various courses and personalizing them to accommodate the needs of her students. She also oversees faculty training sessions and provides mentoring and coaching opportunities to improve communication processes among faculty members.

Similarly, at Grand Canyon University, Dr. Wagner-Loera has been tasked with mentoring faculty to enhance their ability to build relationships and foster student growth. She also supervises over 20 student dissertations. Since joining the university, she has been credited with assisting 25 students to graduate from the program. Additionally, Dr. Wagner-Loera assists fellow dissertation chairs and faculty members as they continue to streamline efficiencies.

Before joining the University of Maryland, Dr. Wagner-Loera taught English as a second language at the Global Village School in Hawaii from 2007 to 2008. This position was foundational to her future success.

Becoming highly educated to support her career, Dr. Wagner-Loera received a bachelor’s degree in teaching German literature, English literature and English as a second language from the University of Mannheim in Germany. She also received a master’s degree in applied linguistics from Hawaii Pacific University and a PhD in cognition and instruction from Grand Canyon University.

Active in her professional community, Dr. Wagner-Loera has been affiliated with the American Psychological Association. This membership enables her to remain aligned with industry standards and network with other individuals in the field. As a local contributor, Dr. Wagner-Loera gives back by lending her time as a volunteer in her local school district and various clubs in which her children participate. She served on her local school district’s advisory council for several years.

Dr. Wagner-Loera’s teaching success has earned her several accolades, including an Outstanding Teaching Award from Hawaii Pacific University in 2007 and an Outstanding Faculty Award from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2024. Her passion has been pivotal to her success, complemented by her ability to guide students toward reaching their goals and empowering them to reach beyond their limits.

Eager for the future, Dr. Wagner-Loera intends to continue her education by completing an artificial intelligence training program for certification. She is also pivoting into an assistant position at Grand Canyon University, where she will support her supervisors for training purposes and eventually become an official faculty trainer. Furthermore, Dr. Wagner-Loera is in the final stages of enrollment in a global initiative at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where she will serve as a part of the committee.
