Marc Allen Medley, school administrator at Paterson Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.

Backed by more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Medley currently serves as the principal of Paterson Public Schools and an adjunct professor at William Paterson University. As the chief executive officer of an elementary and middle school in New Jersey, he devotes his time to a wide range of duties to ensure that the schools run effectively. Prior to joining Paterson Public Schools, Mr. Medley contributed as an adjunct professor at the Passaic County Community College. Before moving into administration, he gained experience as an elementary school teacher, literary coach and facilitator at Paterson Public Schools. Mr. Medley spent five years training adults as a professional development workshop facilitator and lecturer for AT&T. His career began as a teacher for Passaic County Technical-Vocational Schools in 1983. 

Before venturing onto his vocational path, Mr. Medley solidified his own education, beginning with a Bachelor of Business Administration from William Paterson College in 1984. From there, he went on to obtain a Master of Arts in corporate organizational communications from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1998. Mr. Medley subsequently returned to William Paterson College to earn a Master of Education in educational leadership in 2004. Dedicated to lifelong learning, he is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership and social justice with an anticipated completion date of 2026. Mr. Medley served in the United States Air Force via the Air National Guard from 1987 to 1996.

In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Medley has a growing creative output. Since 2001 he has hosted a weekly radio show titled “The Reading Circle with Marc Medley.” Mr. Medley enjoys creating jazz music and has released two instrumental jazz albums, one in 2011 and one in 2013. He is a devoted father to two children and spends his free time playing piano, reading and attending theatrical performances. After he completes his doctorate, Mr. Medley hopes to travel across the country to visit many schools. His aim is to work together with principals in different school districts, sharing the lessons he’s learned on how to create the best possible school experience.
