His career began after earning his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Virginia in 1966, following his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the Virginia Military Institute in 1962. He entered private practice in 1973, establishing Richard N. Willard MD FACOG, where he provided exceptional care in obstetrics and gynecology until 2013. Additionally, he served as a physician at Planned Parenthood of South East Virginia from 2002 to 2013.
Throughout his career, Dr. Willard has been recognized for his commitment to patient care and medical education, receiving a teaching award for his contributions to the field. He is also a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. His career journey was inspired by his mother. With a desire to make her proud and to engage in a meaningful profession, he chose to pursue a career in medicine.
