Rajeev Chandra, PhD, associate professor of biology at Norfolk State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in reproductive biology.
With 35 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Chandra has excelled as associate professor of biology at Norfolk State University since 2023. He initiated his involvement with the same as an assistant professor of biology since 2012. He began his career as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Animal Industry from 1988 to 1999. He served as a postdoctoral researcher at The University of Aberdeen from 1990-1992. In 2001, he and his family immigrated to the United States.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Chandra pursued an education in India where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1981 and a master’s degree in zoology in 1984. He continued his academic efforts at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Izatnagar, India, graduating with a PhD in reproductive physiology in 1990. Following these accomplishments, he completed postdoctoral studies in reproductive biology at The University of Aberdeen in 1991 and at the National Institute of Animal Health in Tsukuba, Japan in 1998.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Chandra has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributed to the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Senior Science Academy, the Society for the Study of Reproduction, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and The American Society for Microbiology. He found success as co-author of “Human Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory Manual for Nursing” in 2023.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Dr. Chandra has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was chosen by the American Society of Microbiology to write a review on “Host-Pathogen Interactions.” He was presented with an award by the Japan Science and Technology Agency in 1996 and selected for a British Council Fellowship in 1990.
Dr. Chandra’s most notable achievement is having the capacity to inform students about the human body and physiology. In the immediate future, he will work on refining educational resources to facilitate enhanced student comprehension. On the research front, he aims to delve deeper into ovarian dysfunction, uncovering unknown facets of ovary function that contribute to disease development.
