Before becoming a full professor, Dr. Kamal was an adjunct professor in both the science department and the emergency medical services department at Valencia College from 1990 to 2008. Earlier in his career, Dr. Kamal practiced as a general surgeon at Amiri Hospital in his home country of Kuwait for about five years. While his work as a surgeon provided personal fulfillment through direct patient care, he ultimately found greater satisfaction in teaching, recognizing the broader impact of educating generations of students.
Dr. Kamal’s academic background is rooted in rigorous training and achievement. He earned a bachelor’s degree in medical science and a Doctor of Medicine from the faculty of medicine at Kuwait University. Dr. Kamal also pursued postgraduate studies in Kuwait, further enhancing his expertise. Previously recognized as a QM-certified higher education peer reviewer by Quality Matters from 2020 to 2022, this credential underscored his dedication to maintaining high standards in educational quality.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Kamal holds membership in the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing knowledge within his field. He has also contributed to civic life as an instructor for cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes, sharing essential lifesaving skills with the community.
Dr. Kamal’s contributions were recognized with a plaque for outstanding contributions as a medical director in Orange County, Florida. However, he considers the achievements of his students, many of whom have expressed gratitude for his dedication and impactful lectures, as his most significant professional accomplishment. Dr. Kamal finds it deeply rewarding to contribute to the success of future healthcare professionals by building their foundational knowledge in understanding human anatomy.
