Carly A. Dillard, DNP, Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor University, Professor at Chamberlain University, and Founder and Chief Executive Officer at It’s Your Time Consulting and Advising LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements and leadership in Nursing Education and Consulting.
Dr. Dillard has established herself as a distinguished expert in medical-surgical and public health nursing, earning recognition for her commitment to education, research and service. In 2024, she began her tenure as a clinical assistant professor at Baylor University, where she teaches in the distance accelerated program online and leads clinical rotations in medical-surgical, mental health and soon obstetrics. Her responsibilities include delivering didactic material online while providing hands-on instruction in clinical skills. Dr. Dillard’s academic career at Baylor University began as an adjunct professor from 2023 to 2024 before advancing to her current faculty position.
In 2025, Dr. Dillard accepted a position as a professor at Chamberlain University, where she has been teaching community health and public health courses since 2025. Beyond the classroom, she has served as the founder and chief executive officer of It’s Your Time Consulting and Advising LLC since 2022, where she provides guidance to health care professionals and organizations.
Before these appointments, Dr. Dillard refined her skills as an education specialist at Texas Medical Center from 2022 to 2024, where she contributed to staff development and training initiatives. She previously worked as a nurse educator at AHRC New York City between 2021 and 2022, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2021, Dr. Dillard excelled as a doctoral research nurse with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, focusing on public health research projects.
Dr. Dillard’s teaching journey began at Lincoln Tech in 2020 as a nursing instructor, a role that ignited her passion for educating future nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic when the demand for adaptable instructors surged. She also worked in the field as a public health nurse with the New York City Department of Education from 2016 to 2022, as a nurse manager at United Cerebral Palsy of New York City between 2016 and 2017, as a school health nurse and registered nurse with Staffing Etc. in Prince George’s County Schools from 2014 to 2016, and as a registered nurse at MedStar Health and Johns Hopkins Hospital, dating back to 2009.
Instrumental in shaping her career trajectory, Dr. Dillard holds an Associate of Applied Science from Tompkins Cortland Community College, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Elmira College, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in quality improvement and research from Capella University. Her commitment to lifelong learning is further reflected in numerous certifications, including Heads Up pediatric concussion certification through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, two foundations of leadership certificates from the National Society of Leadership and Success, basic life support for health care providers from the American Heart Association and medical-surgical nursing board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Throughout her career, Dr. Dillard has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to professional development. She has been a panelist on the scholarship selection panel for the National League for Nursing since 2025. She also maintains active memberships in organizations like the Association for Nursing Professional Development, the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses Association.
In addition to her professional memberships, Dr. Dillard has volunteered as a COVID-19 health care provider with the New York State Department of Health since 2020, supported new nurses via the mentor program at the American Nurses Association since 2020, and mentored veterans through American Corporate Partners since 2022. She has also been a member of the Safe Families for Children parent engagement advisory board since 2022, participating in its Houston launch team since 2023. Additionally, Dr. Dillard continues to serve as a continuing education peer reviewer for the Northeast Multistate Division.
Dr. Dillard’s scholarly contributions include invited speaking engagements, including her research on maternal health and morbidity, which she spoke about at the Texas Tech University Conference in 2025. She also hosts the “Pink Table Talk” podcast on Lawin Media Network and has appeared as a guest on the “Becoming UnDone” podcast with Dr. Toby Brooks.
In light of her hard work, Dr. Dillard has received several accolades, such as the Helen Bosworth Beers Award at Elmira College in 2008 and recognition on the President’s List at Capella University multiple times between 2019 and 2021. She attributes her success to resiliency, faith and determination.
Looking ahead, Dr. Dillard aims to continue supporting her community, particularly single-parent families. She also intends to join additional boards, earn further certifications, publish more articles and expand her presence through speaking engagements and conferences. Ultimately, Dr. Dillard seeks opportunities to teach internationally, sharing innovations from the U.S. while helping health care educators abroad stay current with best practices.
