Christopher Khoury, PhD, Senior Contributing Faculty Member at Walden University, Educational Diagnostician at Prosper Independent School District, and Co-Founder and President of NextGen United Champions Sports Foundation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Education and serving youth that are economically disadvantaged or underrepresented.

Dr. Khoury is distinguished for his contributions to education for over 20 years. His diverse background and expertise presently include serving as a senior contributing faculty member at Walden University since 2013, and as an educational diagnostician at Prosper Independent School District since 2018. Dr. Khoury is also the co-founder and president of NextGen United Champions Sports Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on providing youth of all diverse backgrounds the opportunity to participate in sport, and he has served as the technical director for Nationals FFC, a premier competitive youth flag football club, since 2024.

Among a myriad of responsibilities at Proper Independent School District, Dr. Khoury evaluates and assesses students’ cognitive abilities and academic achievement to students with, or suspected of having, a learning disability, and oversees their academic programs and services to ensure every student is being highly educated and served in the least restrictive environment. He is also tasked with ensuring the schools he serves are in 100% compliance with federal, state, and local laws and procedures. Furthermore, at the university level, he instructs Special Education courses at the doctoral and master’s degree levels, assists in curriculum development for the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, serves on committees, and teaches and trains future special education teachers and administrators.

Dr. Khoury began his career in education as a special education teacher at Lake Dallas Independent School District in 2004 before teaching in the same capacity at Denton Independent School District from 2005 to 2011. He subsequently became an assessment specialist III at Fort Worth Independent School District between 2011 and 2012, an educational diagnostician at Anna Independent School District from 2012 to 2014, a campus testing coordinator at Lewisville Independent School District between 2014 and 2016, and an educational diagnostician at Frisco Independent School District until 2018. Additionally, prior to his tenure at Walden University in 2013, Dr. Khoury served roles as an adjunct professor and teaching fellow at The University of North Texas, from 2005 to 2013.

Possessing a rich educational background, Dr. Khoury received a Bachelor of Science in sports management from North Carolina State University in 2004, followed by a Master of Education in special education and teaching in 2005 and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational psychology in 2014, both from the University of North Texas. In addition to his formal education, Dr. Khoury received an Educational Diagnostician Certification in 2009 and a Principal Certification in 2015 through the Texas Education Agency. He also garnered certificates in Sports Marketing from Northwestern University in 2024, Sports and Society through Duke University in 2024, and The Science of Training Young Athletes through the University of Florida in 2025. Additionally, Dr. Khoury obtained an Introduction to Python designation through Coursera Project Network in 2024.

Besides his work-related commitments, Dr. Khoury has volunteered for various causes, such as the Phoenix Project. He is also the co-founder and president of NextGen United Champions Sports Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking down barriers by providing opportunities for all youth to participate in sport, including those who may not have the means or opportunities to participate, ensuring every young person can experience the camaraderie, skills, and life lessons inherent in sports. At Walden University, Dr. Khoury has served on several committees such as the Teacher Licensure Assessment Committee, the Associate Dean Advisory Council, and currently the Integrated Teaching and Learning Advisory Council. Moreover, Dr. Khoury has also been instrumental as the co-leader for the College of Education and Human Service’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee.

Dr. Khoury’s success has earned him numerous accolades. In 2021, he was named the Prosper ISD Special Education Educator of the Year. He was also awarded with the 2022 Walden University Faculty Excellence Award for The College of Education and Human Services because of his commitment and dedication to Walden University and its students. Additionally, he was an invitee to the University of North Texas Distinguished Alumni Achievement Awards Banquet in 2021, and he was nominated for a National Autism Association of North Texas Appreciation Award in 2022.

Above the numerous accolades, Dr. Khoury is grateful for his ability to serve as a resource and advocate for special education students, parents, teachers, colleagues, as well as at-risk and underrepresented youth. Throughout his career, he has been a reliable and knowledgeable professional who has always thrived on ensuring the success of others. Recognized in the field as a problem solver, Dr. Khoury has typically been assigned to new schools or schools with problematic programs or systems, where he typically spends several years making changes and improvements before moving on to the next school. Ultimately, his goal has been to leave every program or school in better shape than when he arrived, knowing the students will benefit the most.
