George Tawil, MD, PhD, academic adviser at LaSalle University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher education.

Dr. Tawil is a respected professor of psychiatry and academic adviser who has been instrumental at LaSalle University in Athens, Greece, since 1996. Leveraging many years of continued success in academia, research, psychiatry, and psychosomatic medicine, he has garnered tremendous respect for his work, which has spanned over 40 years. Before joining his university, Dr. Tawil was a staff member and researcher at the University of Athens between 1982 and 1986. As a clinician, he was affiliated with Dromokaition Hospital from 1982 to 1986.

Among many other noteworthy roles throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Tawil excelled as a supervisor in the electroencephalograph laboratory within the department of neurology at the State Psychiatric Hospital of Athens. In the United States, he served as an adviser for the law enforcement committee in Chicago regarding its criminal justice system, making recommendations regarding drug addicts in prisons. He also had the opportunity to serve as a scientific associate and counselor at the Northwest Chicago Senior Care Center within its care program, providing expertise to the elderly population.

Highly educated in his respective field, Dr. Tawil holds a Doctor of Medicine since 1981 and a PhD in psychosomatics since 1986 from the University of Athens, followed by postgraduate coursework from the University of Wisconsin and Baylor University. He was notably a Fulbright scholar in 1991. Beyond his education, Dr. Tawil has been active with numerous industry-related organizations supporting his work, such as the Greek Society for Neurology and Psychiatry, the Medical Association of Athens, the Hellenic Psychiatric Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychosomatic Society. As a seasoned researcher, Dr. Tawil has contributed scholarly works to several professional journals and has presented at numerous scientific conferences and meetings throughout his career. In 2021, he was honored to receive a Humanitarian Award for his contributions.
