Devoted to education for over 25 years, Ms. Firpo reached the pinnacle of her career in 2023 when she was named the principal at Northlake TK-8, Twin Rivers Unified School District, in California. In addition to overseeing a staff of 50, she is tasked with implementing innovative educational programs that focus on science, technology and the arts. Notably, Ms. Firpo’s school was nearly a decade in the making, marked by an extensive hiring process and other preparation she spearheaded before welcoming students and staff for the first time in August 2024.
Ms. Firpo’s tenured career began as a teacher and guidance instructional specialist with the Clovis Unified School District (CUSD) and as a teacher for the Fresno Unified School District. After spending nearly two decades in the classroom, primarily teaching students in grades one through six, she pivoted into an administrative role, where she has been instrumental in helping turn around struggling schools and achieve notable improvements in academic performance. Additionally, Ms. Firpo is an expert in social-emotional learning who has implemented it in schools to support all students’ academic success, regardless of socioeconomic background, and has gained tremendous success.
A graduate of California State University in Fresno, Ms. Firpo received a Bachelor of Art in interior design in 1995. She subsequently received an elementary education and teaching credential from National University in 1996. Throughout her career, Ms. Firpo has been lauded for her work, earning a Crystal Award from CUSD, an IREADY Award, a Diamond Award for Student Achievement, and a California Pivotal Practice Award from the California Department of Education. Attributing her good fortune to her passion for working with students and witnessing them succeed in the classroom, she is eager to continue progressing into a superintendent position where she can continue positively impacting the community.
