With nearly five and a half decades of experience, Dr. Pasek has established a successful career in higher education, specializing in industrial engineering. He currently serves as a professor at the University of Windsor, a position he has held since 2014. His previous roles include visiting professor at Poznan University of Technology from 2008 to 2021, associate professor at the University of Windsor from 2005 to 2014, and associate research scientist at the University of Michigan from 1993 to 2005. He began his academic career as an assistant professor at Politechnika Warszawska from 1978 to 1987 and served as a reserve lieutenant in the Polish Air Force in 1979. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1989, a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Warsaw University of Technology in 1978, and a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1993. Additionally, he earned certifications in professional innovation, quality function deployment, and Disney’s approach to creativity and innovation.

Dr. Pasek’s notable accomplishments include pioneering research in traditional manufacturing engineering, where he developed prototype machines at a Michigan engineering center, and integrating manufacturing with financial engineering. He has published extensively and taught graduate-level courses that blend business and engineering, while also introducing undergraduate courses at the University of Windsor focused on consumer product development. For over 20 years, he has been an active member of the ASCE, contributing to conferences and using feature films to enhance student learning experiences. His research has focused on the career progression of engineers into management, with films illustrating these transitions. His work has evolved from research to practical application, particularly in teaching the value of a well-rounded skill set for engineering professionals. He believes that engineers should not only excel in technical skills but also develop leadership and management abilities to thrive in their careers.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Dr. Pasek was honored with the Medal of Merit for contributions to the Poznan University of Technology from Politechnika Poznanska, Teaching Leadership Chair from the Centre for Teaching and Learning at the University of Windsor, Best New Idea Award from the Entrepreneurship & Engineering Innovation Division College of Engineering, and an Outstanding Research Excellence Award from College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. He credits his success to collaborating with visionary individuals, as well as his international exposure, which he attributes to enriching his expertise as he taught in various countries, including Poland, the United States and Canada. In the coming years, he is dedicated to continuing his work and supporting students in exploring opportunities while advising them on overcoming obstacles.
