Tony Cornelius Mitchell Sr., chief executive officer and television host at Cornelius Mitchell Ministries and owner of Downbeat Resolution Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music and education.

With nearly four and a half decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Mitchell has established a successful career in music and education, specializing in gospel music. He currently excels in various roles, including chief executive officer and television host at Cornelius Mitchell Ministries since 2022, owner of Downbeat Resolution Studio since 2021, and self-employed minister of music, musician, and artist since 1991. He also served as a recreation leader at Parks and Recreation Suffolk in 2014. His educational experience includes being a music teacher in Virginia from 2023 to 2024, a teacher at Hertford County Public Schools from 2016 to 2022, a substitute teacher at Suffolk Public Schools, Virginia, from 2009 to 2013, and a teacher of music and art at Bertie High School from 2006 to 2009. Additionally, he has dedicated his time as a band director and writer for Bertie County Schools in 2009, and he is a donor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. His work has been recognized with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Blue Ribbon Award for Best Artwork in the 1990s.

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Mitchell laid a solid educational foundation, earning an Associate of Arts in design and applied arts from Art Instruction School in 1998, a Bachelor of Science in music business from Chowan University in 2006, and a Master of Education in education management and technology from Strayer University in 2009. Growing up in a church as a Sunday school boy, he developed a love for soul and R&B music, with his mother teaching him various piano pieces. He takes great pride in completing college and improving his life for his two children and credits his success to his faith and his ability to find contentment, believing that despite not being wealthy or having all his desires met, he has everything he needs, as well as identifying opportunities and pursuing them with determination. In the coming years, he aims to positively impact people through his music, reaching and inspiring as many individuals as possible, and his goal is to leverage the power of music to encourage a halt to violence, crime, and discrimination.
