With nearly six decades of experience, Ms. Kinnenberg has excelled in academia, specializing in curriculum creation, classroom instruction, and management, and serving in various leadership positions. She began her career as a teacher with Rochester Public Schools from 1968 to 1989. Following this, she moved to Northfield Public Schools, where she worked as a teacher from 1990 to 1995 and then served as principal until her retirement in 2007. As principal, she oversaw the curriculum, conducted classroom observations, managed staff, and handled disciplinary issues. She attended weekly district meetings and ensured smooth operations with transportation and special education. 

Since her retirement, Ms. Kinnenberg has dedicated her time as an adjunct professor at Concordia University, St. Paul. She laid a solid educational foundation for her career, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching from Luther College in 1967, followed by a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Winona State University in 1995. In light of her achievements throughout her career, she has been a participant at the renowned Oxford Round Table, engaging in discussions on women’s issues, and was awarded Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Kinnenberg is the first in her family to attend college. Initially considering a career in business as a secretary or administrative assistant, she ultimately pursued education due to her aunt’s encouragement. Throughout her career, she takes pride in having made a significant impact on the lives of countless students. One of her most notable achievements was serving as the first principal of a new school. She attributes her success to determination, perseverance during challenging times, and a willingness to confront difficulties head-on. She believes that facing adversity provides opportunities for growth and learning and encourages others to embrace necessary changes to achieve success. She is also dedicated to inspiring and empowering young girls in the coming years and aims to challenge societal norms and inspire the younger generation to pursue any career path they desire.
