Amreen Khan

Title: Founder and Director
Company: Praxis Academic Development
Location: Richardson, Texas, United States

Amreen Khan, founder and director at Praxis Academic Development, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academia.

With over a decade of experience, Ms. Khan has dedicated herself to the fields of academia and academic testing, specializing in medical college and dental admissions testing. Currently, she serves as the founder and director of Praxis Academic Development, a role she has held since 2012. Praxis Academic Development offers test preparation, application support, and tutoring to help students approach testing and answer questions with greater accuracy, speed, independence, and confidence.

Ms. Khan developed the “Don’t Think Too Much” Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) prep strategy, a flexible and effective approach to standardized tests including the Preliminary SAT, SAT, American College Testing, Graduate Record Examination, and Dental Admission Test (DAT), which has proven to raise test scores. Her responsibilities include working one-on-one with students, providing standardized tests and tutorials, and developing material for her classes.

Additionally, Ms. Khan has served in the educational realm as a teacher and tutor with College Learning Centers and creates educational videos for YouTube. She also dedicates her time to Families to Freedom, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence by providing free long-distance transportation to reunite with family members or reach shelters, and the Small Business Council of America, a national non-profit organization that represents the interests of privately held and family-owned businesses.

Ms. Khan is also an accomplished author, with some of her notable works including “MCAT Without Memorizing Formulas: Break Units Open,” which provides innovative strategies for mastering the MCAT, and “Break Units Open: DAT Without Memorizing Formulas,” tailored for Dental Admission Test preparation. She also authored “Quick Chirality: Quick & Easy Chirality on MCAT” and “Projekte für Eisenbahnen,” a German edition focused on railway projects.

In light of her impressive undertakings in the field, Ms. Khan has received various teaching, communications, and writing awards from numerous national organizations and publishing companies. Prior to these accomplishments, she pursued an education at the University of Illinois Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences in 1997. Following this, she earned a Master of Science in molecular biology and neurogenetics from Illinois State University in 2000. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys painting, playing instruments, and gardening.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Khan takes great pride in starting her own business, publishing educational manuals, holding copyrights, and registering a patent for a strategy to take the MCAT. She believes she has a talent for teaching and helping others, preferring to work with students one-on-one, which she has incorporated into her curriculums. She attributes her success to devoting time to making YouTube videos, which have increased awareness of her business and resulted in notable growth in inquiries and enrollment. While she is not a fan of advertising, she also notes that student-to-student word-of-mouth has greatly helped her company grow.

In the coming years, Ms. Khan aims to share her copyrighted and proprietary MCAT and DAT exam preparation strategies with as many students as possible. She is currently creating niche self-prep books that she will use to build into a comprehensive publication, and she intends to publish a self-prep book to help students who cannot afford tutoring rates. Additionally, she is dedicated to sharing her strategy further by contributing her time to publishing more material and building her offerings on YouTube.
