With nearly 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Jannetti currently excels as a dance educator with the New York City Department of Education, the artistic director for Andrew Jannetti & Dancers, a fitness and dance instructor with the Manhattan Plaza Health Club, the director of school break programs and a dance educator with the Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX), a dance educator with PS 79 Queens Francis Lewis School, and an adjunct professor at both Saint Francis College and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Beginning his career as a member of the Mary Spalding Dance Company from 1978 to 1983, he subsequently found success with teaching positions at Montclair State University from 1982 to 1985, the Pineapple Dance Center from 1986 to 1988, Dance Space from 1987 to 1991, Studio NYC from 1988 to 1991, and the Great Neck School of Dance from 1988 to 1992. After completing residencies with the State University of New York System and The Island Moving Company in the early 1990s, Mr. Jannetti further flourished in administrative roles for the New Jersey School of Dance Arts, the Olympic Torch Relau, Kid’s Company Works, The Staten Island Academy, and The Printing House Fitness and Squash Club.

Before embarking upon his professional path, Mr. Jannetti pursued an education at Montclair State University, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in speech and theater with a dance concentration in 1976. He discovered his passion for dance after a computer error at the aforementioned university planted him in a dance course as opposed to a horseback riding class. He also notably attended a modern dance class in the Lynn Simonson Technique during his formative years. Mr. Jannetti would eventually conclude his studies at The Steinhardt School at New York University in 2012, graduating with a Master of Arts in curriculum development and dance.

Attributing his success to his unwavering commitment to excellence and his steadfast dedication to his work, Mr. Jannetti has accrued a number of accolades over the years, including an Outstanding Dance Educator Award from Brooklyn Arts Exchange in 2014, Lifetime Achievement Awards from the National Dance Education Organization in 2022, and the PreK-12 Education Art of Leadership Award from the National Dance Education Organization in 2023, to name a few. Among his most memorable achievements, he is incredibly proud of his work at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, as his expertise in embodying dance history pedagogy and parlaying the understanding of movement has enabled him to teach in a unique way. Looking toward the future, he hopes to cement a legacy that inspires and empowers the next generations of dancers and educators. Mr. Jannetti also aims to retire in Italy in the coming years, where he can contribute to the country’s education system through his expertise in dance.
