Dr. Willard is a distinguished physician and assistant professor in the field of obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), with a career spanning over five decades. He has been an assistant professor of OB/GYN at Eastern Virginia Medical School since 2012, where he mentors and supervises medical students and OB/GYN residents. His career began after earning his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Virginia in 1966, following his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the Virginia Military Institute in 1962. He entered private practice in 1973, establishing Richard N. Willard MD FACOG, where he provided exceptional care in obstetrics and gynecology until 2013. Additionally, he served as a physician at Planned Parenthood of South East Virginia from 2002 to 2013.

Throughout his career, Dr. Willard has been recognized for his commitment to patient care and medical education, receiving a teaching award for his contributions to the field. He is also a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. His career journey was inspired by his mother. With a desire to make her proud and to engage in a meaningful profession, he chose to pursue a career in medicine.

One of the highlights of Dr. Willard’s career is his exceptional record in delivering babies, with no maternal deaths reported under his care. His work with Planned Parenthood for over a decade further demonstrates his commitment to reproductive health and advocacy. Looking ahead, he aims to continue living a healthy life and to conclude his career in good standing.
