He holds a PhD in comparative literature from UCLA and completed his Bachelor of Arts in general arts and sciences from Penn State University in 1983. Throughout his career, Dr. Mayers has held various roles, including teacher positions at Bergen County Academies and Bergen County Technical Schools, between 1994 and 2023, where he played a pivotal role in promoting diversity and accessibility in the classroom. His dedication to human rights education led him to begin work co-authoring the book “Human Rights Education For Educators” and to serve as an Educational Consultant at One2One College Consulting since 2022, where he continues to advocate for innovative teaching methods. He has also served as an adjunct professor at St. Francis College since 2020.
