Derrick L. Huff, EdS, assistant principal at Forest Hills Elementary, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education administration.
Mr. Huff embarked on his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and teaching from Tuskegee University in 1994. He then obtained a master’s degree in general education studies at Alabama State University in 1997. Following this, he continued his academic pursuits with an education specialist degree ABD in higher education and administration at Barry University.
Mr. Huff’s professional path began as an instructor at the SOREF Jewish Community Center, where he served from 1996 to 2013. Transitioning to Broward County Public Schools, he held the role of elementary education administrator and teacher from 2001 to 2013. Progressing in his career, he assumed the position of assistant principal at Forest Hills Elementary within Broward County Schools in 2013, where he continues to excel.
Alongside his career in education, Mr. Huff served on the State Ethics Committee for the Florida Department of Education for five years. Additionally, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1994 to 1995, earning recognition with Army Commendation Medals for his dedicated service. Crediting his success to a robust support system and exceptional interpersonal skills, he attributes much of his professional growth to his parents, both former educators. Mr. Huff advises aspiring professionals in the field to maintain a commitment to continuous learning and that shaping lives is a great reward in itself.
