Diana Valerie MacKenzie, director of curriculum and instruction at Sung Star Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in curriculum and educational management.

With 45 years of experience to her credit, Mrs. MacKenzie has excelled as director of curriculum and instruction at the Sung Star Academy since 2016. In her role, she performs all of the school’s grant writing, manages the curriculum, transitions the students and their families to the public school environment, and provides professional development. She contributed at Waretown Elementary School as a teacher for 25 years and as a principal and director of curriculum and instruction for 13 years.

Before embarking on her professional path, Mrs. MacKenzie pursued an education at Georgian Court College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1978, a Master of Arts in elementary education in 1983, and a Master of Arts in educational administration and curriculum development in 2003. She holds a certification as a reading specialist from Georgian Court College.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Mrs. MacKenzie has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She performs fundraising for the Polar Plunge for the New Jersey Special Olympics and participates in walkathons for breast cancer awareness. In addition to her primary vocation, Mrs. MacKenzie remains affiliated with various organizations concerning her areas of expertise. She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association, the Parent Teacher Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

In light of her impressive undertakings, Mrs. MacKenzie has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Ocean Township School District in 1992. She attributes her success to her supportive family and colleagues. She always had a love for curriculum and instruction. When she was a freshman in high school, she had a history teacher who influenced her to go into education.

In the immediate future, Mrs. MacKenzie aims to impart the importance of education to the youth and families. She may continue working until her grandson is in school. She would like to do more of the things she enjoys, like traveling and reading, and would like to do some mentoring.
