Katie Wilwohl, PhD, full professor of biology at Bethel University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in biology.

Dr. Wilwohl has had a distinguished career in the education sector, beginning as an adjunct professor at Camden County Community College between 1999 and 2001 then Middlesex Community College in 2001. She worked as a visiting professor at West Chester University between 2001 and 2002 before becoming an associate professor of biology at Clarke University between 2002 and 2012. Since 2013, she has contributed to Bethel University of Tennessee as a scientific researcher and a full professor of biology.

Curiosity and an inquisitive nature led Dr. Wilwohl towards science and exploring various phenomena. She utilized these assets to earn a Bachelor of Science in biology from St. Francis University at Loretto in 1989. She subsequently obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in molecular biology and genetics from Temple University in 1997. 

In addition to her commitment to being the best educator, Dr. Wilwohl participates as a member of numerous organizations, such as the American Association of Immunologists, the American Society for Microbiology, the Biology Teachers Association, and the National Collegiate Honors Council. She volunteers her time to church and community activities, and spent time as the president of the library committee in Iowa. In 2007 and 2009, she was voted Educator of the Year by the athletes of Clarke University.

In the upcoming years, Dr. Wilwohl plans to continue teaching and performing contract work for publishers and other educational departments in her district. As a lifelong learner, she intends to further her education for her benefit and to act as a role model for her students. When she is not working, she dedicates heer time and attention to spending time with her family, reading, and working on home improvement projects.
