Hailing from more than 10 years of experience in his chosen field, Mr. Edmondson leverages his multifaceted talents as an instrumentalist and compassionate educator to teach students the significance of participation in the art of music. As a teacher at Spruce Mountain School District Regional School Unit 73, he is responsible for serving as a reading companion to aid in the development of literacy skills on behalf of children, and instructs chorus and general music for third, fourth and fifth grade students. Commencing his latest role in 2022, Mr. Edmonson previously served as a music teacher at various other school districts throughout the state of Maine, including in Searsport, where his efforts to establish a music program led to his recognition as a Teacher of the Year finalist.
Outside of his primary endeavors in education, Mr. Edmondson is most proud to have played an instrumental role in the creation of the Eastern Maine Pops Orchestra in 2011, a community ensemble that was based in Bar Harbor, Maine. In collaboration with his mother, he invested substantial effort in sustaining the group’s growth, and encouraged their efforts to solicit participation from numerous young musicians. In accounting for his overall success, Mr. Edmondson credits his commitment to his teaching philosophy, which enshrines the value of pursuing musical excellence through diligent effort, rather than seeking shortcuts. By instilling such principles in his students, he hopes to foster a sense of pride in their own endeavors. Looking toward the future, he aspires to develop a robust system that cultivates the musical skills of students as they transition to middle school.
