Dr. Carmen Lyttle-N’guessan, research associate and program manager at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of program management and research.

With more than 25 years of experience to her credit, Dr. N’guessan has cultivated a fulfilling career in the field of education. Specializing in academic management, she has served as a research associate and program manager at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University since 2016. As part of her duties, she oversees various funded programs, advises students and fellow professionals, and strives to empower others through academic research. Dr. N’guessan originally joined the institution in 2005 as a program director, and throughout her time with the school, she has intermittently operated as an instructor.

At the onset of her career, Dr. N’guessan worked extensively as an agricultural and integrated science teacher and departmental lead at Oberlin High School in Saint Andrew, Jamaica, her native home, from 1997 to 2000. Adjacent to her primary professional endeavors, she is also well-regarded for her commitment to civic advocacy, having notably served as a volunteer with the Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee since 2019. Likewise, she has worked with many agricultural and management groups over the course of her career. In her scholarly efforts, Dr. N’guessan notably authored the 2009 book, “An economic evaluation of nitrate in groundwater: A contingent valuation survey in Northwest Florida.”

As part of her vocational journey, Dr. N’guessan pursued her own formal education, beginning at The College of Agriculture, Science, and Education in Port Antonio, Jamaica, where she earned as Associate of Science in agriculture in 1986. She subsequently continued her studies over the course of her professional career and ultimately achieved a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, in addition to several master’s degrees. In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. N’guessan holds several pertinent certifications in health informatics and health care. Furthermore, she remains affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the Project Management Institute Inc., the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Inc. and the American Health Information Management Association.

To commemorate her achievements, Dr. N’guessan has been honored with several accolades, most recently including a Career Champion of the Year Award from her school for 2021 and 2022. Furthermore, the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University has also recognized her with an Apple Award and an Outstanding Support and Dedication Award for helping to develop a new academic program. Having always aspired to help others and inspire positive change in various communities, she naturally gravitated toward her career as an educator. Attributing much of her success to her drive and passion, Dr. N’guessan is particularly proud of all of her research work. Looking to the future, she hopes to continue inspiring young individuals to succeed in their chosen professions.
