With over 40 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Thompson has excelled as an instructor at the McHenry Community High School District 156 since 2021. An expert in his field, he specializes in teaching machining, welding fabrication and computer numerical control (CNC) programming. Prior to joining his current school district, he served as an organizational development technical educator at Scot Forge Company in Spring Grove, Illinois, from 2017 to 2021. He was also an adjunct instructor at McHenry County College from 2008 to 2018. At the onset of his career, Mr. Thompson operated as an industrial educator at the St. Mary’s Springs Academy from 1983 to 1987.
Before embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Thompson pursued his own formal education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial education in 1983. He subsequently continued his studies at Illinois State University and achieved a master’s degree in technology teacher education and human resource development in 1994. Furthermore, Mr. Thompson received a degree as a Specialist in Education in career and technical education and manufacturing from his alma mater in 2015. In light of his professional and academic accomplishments, Mr. Thompson has largely attributed his success to his dedication to learning and improving his education. In the coming years, he looks forward to conducting more consulting work for clients and companies in need of CNC machining assistance.
