With 55 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Hart has excelled as the music instructor and a band director for OldSongs in Voorheesville, New York since 2007. Prior to these appointments, she had been active as a teacher and a band director since 1967, during which time she taught with Dutchess Community College. Renowned among her peers for her expertise in gospel music, Ms. Hart has been notably affiliated with the Accordionists and Teachers Guild.
Ms. Hart has found additional success as a musician, having played with Myron Floren of “The Lawrence Welk Show” at the age of 14 as well as with the Las Vegas Accordion Group for the Las Vegas International Accordion Convention. She has notably performed with three accordion bands: Squeeze Play, Fresh Squeezed and Squeeze for Jesus, with which she has played for community events, rescue missions, festivals and local church dinners. Among the many highlights of her endeavors in the performing arts, Ms. Hart is particularly proud of playing with the band that won first place in the 1969 Coupe Mondiale, an international championship for accordionists.
To refine her skills in her field, Ms. Hart pursued coursework at such academic institutions as Wilmington College, the University of Michigan and Mott College. Moreover, she was the recipient of a college scholarship. Born musically gifted, Ms. Hart began taking accordion lessons at the age of nine, at which point she immediately discovered her greatest passion.
As a testament to her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Hart has accrued more than 70 trophies over the course of her career. She has also been featured in The Times Union. Ms. Hart attributes her success to her unwavering love for playing the accordion, her patience with her students, the camaraderie she has shared with her bandmates and the opportunity to showcase the versatility of the accordion in various genres of music.
