Dr. Linda Gertner Zatlin, PhD, English Literature Professor at Morehouse College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in English education.

With more than 60 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Zatlin has excelled in a number of positions at Morehouse College since 1967, including as an instructor of English from 1967 to 1970, an assistant professor of English from 1974 to 1978, an associate professor of English from 1978 to 1981 and a professor of English since 1981. Prior to these appointments, she served as an instructor of English at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1967. She previously began her career in The Ferguson-Florissant School District as an English and drama teacher between 1960 and 1962. Beyond her accomplishments in academia, Dr. Zatlin has found success with her written works as well, having authored “Aubrey Beardsley: A Catalogue Raisonn (The Paul Mellon Center Series in British Art)” in 2016, “Beardsley, Japonisme, and the Perversion of the Victorian Ideal” in 1998, “Aubrey Beardsley and Victorian Sexual Politics” in 1990 and “The Nineteenth-Century Anglo-Jewish Novel” in 1981.

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Zatlin pursued an education at the University of Maryland, from which she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1960. She subsequently concluded her studies at Emory University, obtaining a Master of Arts in English in 1964 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 19th Century English literature in 1974. As a testament to her exceptional undertakings, she has been presented with a Fulbright-Hayes Grant in 1981, a Mellon Foundation Grant from the United Negro College Fund from 1984 to 1986, the Dana Fellowship from Emory University from 1990 to 1991 and a Research Grant from the  Ota Memorial Museum of Art from 1990 to 1991. Among the many highlights of her career, Dr. Zatlin is incredibly proud of her longstanding tenure at Morehouse College and her repeated interactions with returning students.
