With over three decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Peevey has cultivated a career of excellence in the field of education. With a focus on special education, she has operated as a special education teacher for the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District for much of her career. Ms. Peevey naturally gravitated towards a career in education from a young age, having wanted to become a teacher since she was in second grade. She was inspired to pursue special education after the birth of her first daughter, who has special needs. Over the course of her career, Ms. Peevey has largely attributed her success to her ability to listen to her students and her willingness to try new things in the classroom environment. To wit, she always remains abreast of new research in her field and uses it to develop new methods of teaching. In the coming years, Ms. Peevey hopes to continue helping younger teachers by improving teaching standards and developing new special education curricula.
