Susan DuPree Mincey, NBCT, Music Teacher at Mincey’s Musicians, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education.
A dedicated music teacher for more than 45 years, Ms. Mincey has imparted her expertise in a variety of educational settings, including private, parochial and public institutions, as well as a school located on a U.S. Air Force base. She retired in 2012 after 10 years of teaching music at Skyview Elementary School, where she successfully implemented a music program that changed the landscape of music education of at the school. In retirement, she has thrived as a private music teacher in her studio, Mincey’s Musicians, for 10 years.
With expertise in piano and voice teaching, Ms. Mincey comes from a family of educators, including her grandmother, mother, sisters and daughters. A national board-certified teacher, her career success includes having her work published in a professional music journal. A leader in her field, she is president of the Macon Music Teachers Association and a past president of the Morning Music Club.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Mincey earned a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance with a minor in piano from Brenau University in 1968. To gain further expertise in her field, she earned a master’s degree, Integrating the Arts into the Curriculum, from Lesley University in 2006.
Ms. Mincey plans to continue teaching voice and piano to students of all ages for as long as possible. Strongly influenced by her mother’s passion for music, Ms. Mincey also draws inspiration from her faith in God and her close friend Susan McDuffie, who is 91 and is still a teacher. She believes that her accomplished career is the product of her outgoing and inclusive personality, along with a willingness to go beyond the normal classroom and studio experience.
