Gary H. Weiss, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in urology and urology instruction.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in biological chemistry from Columbia University in 1975, Dr. Weiss continued his education with a Medical Doctor and Doctor of Philosophy from the Yeshiva University’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1982. He then served residencies with Vanderbilt University and the University of Rochester Medical Center and followed with a fellowship with the National Cancer Institute, a part of the National Institutes of Health, one of 11 agencies that are part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Weiss has provided superior care as a urologist with Northwell Health and has imparted his knowledge as an assistant professor of urology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York from 2008 to the present. His professional memberships include the American Urological Association, Phi Beta Kappa and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Medical Sciences Program and he is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Weiss attributes his success to his dedication, perseverance, and belief that caring for patients and expanding of knowledge is his calling. He took much inspiration from his father, who told him that he should look for something that he enjoys for a career and not for the money. Dr. Weiss considers his career highlight mentoring students he has trained in the field of urology who have been successful in the field. He is also proud of his academic contributions and his work on bladder cancer and prostate cancer. His goal is to maintain his current clinical practice and start increasing his mentoring of medical students and give lectures in medical school in the coming years.
