Sarah Dworjan, Music Educator at Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music instruction and performance.
Ms. Dworjan obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York in 2019, where she served as valedictorian and earned several academic awards. Since that year, she has excelled as a music teacher with Brighter Choice Charter School for Girls, in which she provides superior music education from grades K through 5 in drum, xylophone, guitar and recorder among other instruments. In addition to teaching, Ms. Dworjan participates as the Secretary of the executive board for the American Orff-Schulwerk Association-Berkshire Hudson Valley chapter. A respected voice in her field, she has been invited to present at the NYSSMA Conference and has contributed articles to Flute View Magazine. For her musical talent, Ms. Dworjan received a performance-based scholarship from the Orange County Music Educators Association, in addition to an Academic Achievement Award and the St. Rose of Lima Award from the College of Saint Rose.
Ms. Dworjan became involved in her profession because when she was in school, subjects such as mathematics and science came naturally to her, but her first love was music, which challenged her more and she decided to become a music teacher. She attributes her success to the helpful role models that she had when she was the age of the children she is now teaching, who inspired her to think more deeply and try new things.
In the coming years, Ms. Dworjan would like to be more involved in the community in terms of performance. A talented singer and flautist herself, she would love to find some opportunities to perform in the area. She also hopes to observe what other schools are doing in music instruction and to pursue a master’s degree in music.
