After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in psychology and elementary education in 1965 from Immaculata University in East Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania, Ms. Gillen continued her education with a Master of Education in guidance and counseling from Villanova University in Pennsylvania in 1967. She has subsequently excelled as a teacher and school guidance counselor for nearly three decades in the Chester Upland School District and Showalter School District.

Ms. Gillen’s professional memberships include the American Association of University Women and Delta Kappa Gamma, the professional society for women educators. In addition, she is a member of The International Cat Association (TICA), the world’s largest genetic registry of pedigreed and domestic cats. She has been honored with a Marquis Who’s Who Distinguished Worldwide Humanitarian Award. Now happily retired, Ms. Gillen is looking forward to doing some traveling in the coming years.
