George Tchobanoglous, PhD, Professor Emeritus of the University of California, Davis, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental engineering.

With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Tchobanoglous has been recognized as a professor emeritus of the University of California, Davis, since 1994, having been a professor since 1976, associate professor since 1971, and assistant professor since 1970. In addition, he has served as a consultant since 1970, and as an environmental engineering consultant since 1994. Dr. Tchobanoglous has also previously lent his expertise to Stanford University as an acting assistant professor, and as a sanitary engineer for Metcalf & Eddy, Inc., Water Resources Engineers, Inc., and the University of California Sanitary Engineering Research Laboratory.

Dr. Tchobanoglous began his career as a student at the University of the Pacific, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1958. He continued his studies at the University of California, Berkeley, completing a Master of Science in sanitary engineering in 1960. He subsequently earned a PhD in environmental engineering from Stanford University in 1969. Dr. Tchobanoglous also holds honorary engineering degrees from the Colorado School of Mines, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Technical University of Crete.
