Glen S. Leverette, Associate Professor at the U.S. Naval War College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in military instruction.

An accomplished military educator with more than 30 years of service in the U.S. Navy to his credit, Mr. Leverette has excelled as an associate professor with the U.S. Naval War College since 2021. In 2021, he held the position of diversity and inclusion manager with the Naval Service Training Command. Prior to these roles, he was a commanding officer and professor of Naval science with the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Jacksonville University.

Mr. Leverette served in the U.S. Navy as a commanding officer of Naval justice forces in the Middle East. He was also a deputy commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Korea from 2014 to 2017 and a commodore from 2012 to 2014. Alongside his primary roles, Mr. Leverette became a pastor at the Community Baptist Church in Newport, Rhode Island, in 2021.

To prepare for his career, Mr. Leverette earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and government in 1990. He went on to matriculate at Jacksonville University and obtained a Master of Arts in elementary education and teaching in 1997. In 2010, Mr. Leverette graduated from the U.S. Naval War College with a Master of Arts in national security policy studies and later earned an additional master’s degree in public policy at Jacksonville University in 2020. 

In addition to his formal degrees, Mr. Leverette is a certified instructor of Naval leadership and ethics through the Naval Service Training Command. He is also a certified joint maritime operations planner with the U.S. Transportation Command. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Leverette was named a President’s Distinguished Honor Graduate by the Naval War College in 2010. He also received a Community Service Award from the Rhode Island State Senate in 2010 and a South Korean National Defense Medal from the Korean Secretary of Defense.

Mr. Leverette has maintained affiliation with the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society since 2018 and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. in 2011. He attributes his success to his love of God, country and people. In his spare time, he enjoys playing piano, exercising, playing chess, reading biographies, playing dominos and reading science fiction.
